There is overwhelming evidence that members of police organizations experience severe stress as part of their unique work environment. These stressors can affect many areas of one’s life. Research suggests it is possible to increase the resilience of police organizations through appropriate training and that resilience training can prevent the development of post-traumatic (occupational) stress injuries.Using interactive components and realistic graphic scenarios, this online course will engage you by demonstrating how one traumatic event, or a series of stressors, can affect all areas of your life, and provide you with skills for prevention. You will see the scenario through the eyes of a constable, sergeant, and civilian members.This course was created by Dr. Yasmeen Krameddine and Liana Lentz from the University of Alberta, Department of Psychiatry, along with feedback from 20 local police organization members.
